    Hi.

I am in the process of changing my very OLD and clunky hand coded website at http://www.markfrancombe.com into a WordPress site.

Currently the closest theme I have found to what i want is Hemingway. But there seems to be some things wrong with it.
    http://www.markfrancombe.com/wordpress/
(ignore the front page blog for now)

I am mostly creating PAGES. Then I expect the TOP LEVEL or main pages to show up in the menu, and lower level pages (specified as childs to the main pages). But in my sidebar menu (http://www.markfrancombe.com/wordpress/) I am getting ALL the pages that I have created.

All I want is a Left sidebar with menu items, but only showing the top level. Then a content area to the right. for ALL pages.

The icing on the cake would be to be able to add the left and right borders (see my original site) and if poss the little flash film at the top of the left sidebar menu (but thats un-necessary for now)

Anybody able to help me, (or suggest - gimme a link - to a more relevant theme for me to base my site on?)

I HAVE found themes that handle the menu as I want it (showing top level but hiding sub level pages) but they are all way off the design I want.

    cheers..

    Mark

If you are using the template tag, wp_list_pages(), then the depth=1 parameter will cause only top-level Pages to appear.
