Newbie: set up question (2 posts)

    Sorry about this, but I'm a newbie and really aren't sure if I'm doing this right even with all the help.

    When I go to wp-install.php, it's giving me a 404/file not found on this server. I've set up the MySQL database (see code below), and have uploaded all the files to the parent directory. Now I'm stuck! Can anyone give me some guidance or point me at a site for people with little/no technical knowledge? Thanks so much. I'm a freelance writer by trade and just want to get my site built asap so I can get on with finding work.

    <?php
    define('DB_NAME', 'db18048_lovelywords');
    define('DB_USER', 'admin18048@lovelywords.com);
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'xxxxxxx');
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost.com');

    nocache_headers();

    $comment_post_ID = (int) $_POST['comment_post_ID'];

    (the code then goes on - looks like something to do with posting comments on a blog, which isn't what I'm building anyway).

    For install.php or another file ?

    When you use your ftp client, is
    /wordpress
    next to
    /public_html
    ?

    I'm wondering if the wp directory is too high - it must be inside public_html (or www or mainwebsite_html)
