    Hello!

I'm quite a newbie on this, so maybe my question is simple, but anyway.

I started a WordPress.com account with a domain name. After using it for awhile I found out that I couldn't configure the theme as i wanted, and I couldn't add plugins. Then I wanted to go for WordPress.org, and here is where I am:

I've istalled Filezilla and signed up for a webhosting at Dreamhost. I've run through the "one-click" installation, and it seems that Dreamhost has created a database for me, so I went to step 5. While writing mydomain/wp-admin/install.php I'm redirected to http://mydomain.wordpress.com/wp-admin/install.php and my wordpress.com blog is shown.

Could anyone help me to get further from this point? Is it because I signed up with Dreamhost today and that they have to do the transfer first?

    Best regards,
    Ricard

  2. Yes, if you want to transfer your domain name to dreamhost, you'll need to change the dns. Login to your registrar and change the dns to ns1.dreamhost.com & ns2.dreamhost.com

You will also want to go to your wordpress.com site and export your content. Then once the dns have propagated, you can import your content and continue blogging on your dreamhost server.

Here is more info on how to migrate from .org to .com - http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/01/03/how-to-move-from-wordpresscom-to-wordpressorg/

This is just one article that I found on google, there might be a better one... Good luck
