   Where do I look on dashboard to find what version of WordPress I am using?

   Are themes in WordPress the same as templates in Joomla? If so how can you see them?

   To see what version you are using: Wp-Admin > Dashboard > Updates
   It should say which version you are using as well as give you the option to update if you are using an older version

   Themes: Never used Joomla before, but WordPress themes are pretty easy to use. See here for more info: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes

   It's also listed right on the front page of the Dashboard, under 'Right now'

   Hi jcnoble,

   Yes, Themes are the same as templates. I think you'll find the learning curve with WordPress to be much smaller than Joomla. I hope this answers your question.
