    How do I get an account with MySQLl?

    I downloaded the mysql-4.0.24 program and run the setup on my computer, but how do I get the information for the WordPress installation - username and password (for the wp-config file).
    Anything else I should know?

    Thanks for reading! - help the newbie -pls :)!

    I'm stuck with xampp:
    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/xampp/

    _______________________
    1. Start your XAMPP setup by clicking the orange 'xampp_start.exe'. Once it is working, click on link in the left side bar for phpmyadmin.
    2. Create a database. It's name does not matter. Be sure that the name you choose is the same as the one you have used in your 'wp-config.php' file.

    Q: Where is this 'link in the left side bar for phpmyadmin' for creating the database??

    This is giving me a headache, I feel bad for programmers... hehe
    thx for the help!

    I've always used phptriad in windows. It's a single install of apach/php/mysql. Of course you still need to set up the DB using phpmyadmin or the command line.

    Whats your exact problem with phpmyadmin ? It's usually fairly straightforward ?

    @heypatryk,
    First of all: do you want to host your blog on your own machine? - If not, i.e. in case you will be hosted somewhere you do NOT need mysql or anything, the host needs to have it.
    However if you have already installed xampp you can use it to develop your site offline. Once installed (and Apache and MySQL started) just type "localhost" in your browser's address line.
