I have almost everything set to go- but cannot figure out
a) how to remove widgets off home page- dragging doesn't work
b) how to add a sidebar box and edit same
the attribute content/sidebar gives me an earlier sidebar, no edit permission
c) how can I add two boxes on a page for pictures...I can only figure out the one

widgets in home page might be default, try inserting a blank text widget.

not sure what you mean by sidebar box, or to edit a sidebar box. Is it a permissions issue somehow? please clairify.

If you want two images side by side, you could just try inserting them that way, or try a table. Or try a multi-content area plugin. I think "Content Boxes" is a popular one.

http://www.bradfordteachoverseas.com See the box "What we Do?" is repeated on the third page? That box I want to edit to read "Positions Open", and be able to edit it as needed!
I can live with only one image on that page.

If it's not a widget, it may be in sidebar.php. Look there and you may see that text and be able to change it.
It's a text widget. Can you not expand or move your widgets in admin settings? is that what you mean by no edit permission?

yes- it will not allow me to edit or delete....very frustrating!
