http://greerville.com/wordpress
This site is sort of a website/blog hybrid. It is designed to give patrons of a missionary family regular news and photo updates. I am new to CSS and PHP, but not HTML. Really I enjoy the design elements of building a website more than the code elements.
The site is based on Kubrick, the default theme for WordPress.
I have implemented several plugins: Falbum, Flickr slideshow, and Subscribe2 -- all of which are very cool, but do not validate well. There is also a Flickr badge in the header which does not validate.
Really cute site, and serves the purpose perfectly. Good luck in your mission work!
very nice layout! I think the colour is very relaxing.
I also like the "Sign up for email" on there. I might have to look into soemthing like that for me site as well.
A great inspiration. Photos add a nice touch!
the mailing list is powered by a terrific wordpress plugin called Subscribe2...it fully integrates into WordPress's admin panel... Get it here: http://www.skippy.net/blog/2005/02/17/subscribe2/
Wow! Incredible Template! So smooth, like Apple designed it or something! Please share with the rest of us!
As for code, when I run your site through w3c, there is a LOT that doesn't validate. I suggest at least striving for xhtml transitional. But you can tweak this over time...
Overall, amazing use of WordPress to create a custom website. Kudos.

When you say "based on Kubrick", you really mean "barely based on Kubrick" right? Terrific artwork. Looks great. I really like the Flickr badge in the header...it's so subtle, I didn't even notice it was a Flickr badge at first. Best implementation of it that I've seen.
Very nice and clean I think it looks great. Good luck with the site.
Thanks for all the kind reviews!

i'm especially amazed at how you create a link to you FAlbum slideshow in your posts?
It's actually not a link to FAlbum...although I've had others think the same thing. It's linked directly to Flickr.
The slideshow is powered by another slick plugin that you can get here: http://www.darasplace.com/53/flickr-tag-slide-show/
It took me a bit of tweaking to get it to work, and it's not quite as seamless as FAlbum, but it gets the job done.
One question for everyone:
Is the sidebar too "busy"?

when viewing your site in Safari on my mac, the images in the header jump out of their boxes. otherwise, great job!
the boxes are part of the header background that the photos sit on top of. In Safari, which way do the photos "jump"? Can you take a screenshot?
Thanks!

the site is no longer up but the pictures were below the boxes
ok, how do the photos in the header look now? I've tested in IE and FF, but I was wondering if someone could tell me if everything lines up in safari
beautiful color scheme...not the same -old blue we see on everything web...you changed it a little since the first post, eh?
