So I just downloaded and installed wordpress on my website. I installed and activated my new theme and have customized it a bit, but when I click on “view site” it is still showing my old website. My old site was all html, css, and bootstrap there was no WordPress theme used previously.

I have tried to go through and delete items out of my FTP but it either continues to show my old site, or it gives me a “Forbidden” message on a white screen. Does anyone know how I fix this, what I delete out of my FTP or anything?

  • Try deleting or renaming the index.html file in your root folder.

I am using Cyberduck and I went through that and deleted my index.html and then check my root folder just to make sure and it is deleted. Yet it still is bringing up my old website and not my new wordpress theme.

What is the url of your WP site?

I figured it out. Apparently my site was just very slow to update. Thank you for the timely responses though.
