Since 1999, I have run web sites on various hosts: GeoCities, Tripod, Aeverine.info and now AvaZinn.com!

AvaZinn.com has been setting up the new WordPress/BuddyPress site. It took a while to customise and I would welcome any feedback or comments (and even login with your Twitter or Facebook). There are some bugs that need to be worked out (with placing ads on the site)

    The site is at http://www.avazinn.com

Thanks in advance for your feedback - it would helps! I always appricate the positive comments and may even change more things on the site (with suggestions).

    Regards
    Ava

  2. Wow, sounds like you've been all over the place.

A few nitpicks right off the bat:

    • You might need to adjust the line-height of some of your text. It gets a little bit mashed together. See here: http://cl.ly/image/1I2X0h271T1l
    • I didn't even notice your menu at first because it's transparent and completely blends in with the header: http://cl.ly/image/3u0z1x2J1B3b
    • You also might consider choosing less of a busy background just so there's less to distract your readers from the content.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the header and the site has lots of advertising.

As for the background, I will say that the background image may not be the greatest.. but it seems that the image could use some tweaking to reflect my strong affiliation ties as a (trans)woman and personality. I looked at other sites (mostly stations affiliated with the big four networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) and used that as the current background.

So far, so good... Just could use some good participation. Also adding some more content as time progresses on my 30th birthday (which is today)

Wow, I think you should change your theme.
    -The background is too flashy
-The alert bar for Java if not at the top of the page
    -Change your header image
    -Change your menu
-Less ads, I can't see the content
Note that the target of a template is to be clear and simple, it must show the content.
    Happy birthday :)

Thanks for the replies, The ads are there because I am wanting to make money on both AvaZinn.com and on another site (VotefortheGirls.us)

It is still a work in progress, but it has been a while since I last used WordPress, so I am still learning.

As for the background and header image (that's not going anywhere).
The theme got changed to Buddy Press default.

As for the ads, there should be no more than three per page.

Agree with the header, it's just a very busy mess. I didn't scroll further down or click on a link.

also agree that header doesn't mixes well with a site. the theme in particular looks like it belongs to old era of static websites though it has a videos.
