  • In a tutorial’s text I’d expect that the knowledgeable author can handle correctly the character encoding…

    Moshu,
The original was written in MS Word, and then converted to PDF and then to HTML for web posting. It was pretty intensive effort to make it readable in HTML, although PDF version that is available for download from there – looks much better. Sorry for the occasional weird inline chars.

Ahhhhh…. whatever happened to simply using vanilla text editors in order to short-circuit the “character display problems” ALWAYS obvious when trying to produce ‘net input with programs totally unsuited to that effort?

In other words, don’t use word or whatever you manipulate to produce pdfs.

Making things “readable” in html NEVER happens with crap like word or adobe. Use notepad 2 or notepad + or something similarly innocuous (“vanilla” in other words….)
