    1 - can i choose a photo gallery different from theme gallery?
    2 - theme version must be the same of installed wp version or either previous?
    3 - is good to give an explicit name to images? for better indexing?
    4 - for a double language website, i have to duplicate the lang1 site and changing all text content? or there is a way to build only 1 site and change directly language content in according to user choice?

    maybe obvious question...but not for me :)
    thanks

    If I'm understanding your questions correctly...

    1 - You can use the built-in Gallery Shortcode or you can use a gallery plugin (NextGen Gallery is a popular one)

    2 - You can use old themes on new versions of WP but some themes might not function properly or have some features missing

    3 - Yes, proper image names can be helpful for SEO and your images may appear in Google Images searches if they have relevant titles. If you mean indexing internally within your site, it's really up to you and might depend on whether you leave the files to upload to folders with year/month in the URL (this is default) or whether you change the setting so they all upload to one folder. If they're all in one folder it would be better to have them properly named just so it doesn't get confusing in future.

    4 - You can use a languages plugin to help you make a multi-language site.

    Hope that helps :)

    This plugin may do what you need (I haven't tested it out):

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-page-menus/

    Or, to do it yourself you can add another menu in your theme like so:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/on-adding-second-menu-to-twenty-eleven?replies=6

    (Or if you want it to have the same mobile-friendly functionality as the main menu follow this tutorial: http://zeaks.org/tutorials/add-second-menu-to-twenty-twelve-theme/)

    Then to display it only on your portfolio page (a page with the 'slug' of portfolio, e.g. yourwebsite.com/porfolio/) open up the template where you'd like it to be displayed, e.g. header.php if you display it under the main menu or page-portfolio.php if using a custom page template, then surround the code that displays the menu with a conditional tag

    e.g.

    <?php if ( is_page( 'porfolio' )) : ?>
      <?php // footer menu
      wp_nav_menu( array('container_class' => 'menu-footer',
      'theme_location' => 'secondary' ) ); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    OR

    <?php if ( is_category( 'porfolio' )) : ?>
      <?php // footer menu
      wp_nav_menu( array('container_class' => 'menu-footer',
      'theme_location' => 'secondary' ) ); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    I think that should work but haven't tested it. And you'll need to edit the name of the menu as per your needs, the one in the example is for the footer obviously.
