   this site is to my families business.

   site is about two months old and is a slow work in progress (but im not getting paid and im not having to pay anyone).

   just want to make sure im not missing something?

   Get rid of the calendar and the who's online widget.
   Get a bigger background image so it isn't tiled.
   Get rid of the list style for menu items.
   Get rid of smileys in your posts.
   Pick a navigation and stick with it - either top navigation or sidebar navigation. Two navigation menus is redundant.

   Solid start to an otherwise adequate website.

   not sure if i know what you mean by list style for menu.
   i just plugged the side widget nav menu in yesterday to see which i liked better. do you have a suggestion on which.

   List style is referring to the *'s next to each item in the list. You can change this via css.

   Personally, I like the top menu as its smoother and conserves screen space.

   changes made. thank you very much for your thoughts. makes for a much cleaner site.
   just removed the background image entirely and it looks better.
   i have never done any of this before just learning as i go.
   it is very hard to see the little things when you are looking at so much info.
