   I upgraded my site to WP 2.5 and installed a new theme.

   My homepage does not display the latest posts. Any ideas why this error happens?

   I see few unparsed special character inside the latest post area.
   

   \n  \n      \n  \n

   try disabled all your plugins and reset your theme to default (kubrick) just to make sure there is nothing wrong with your post entry or database.
