    Hey everyone,

I thought this was the most suitable place for my question but I am new to all of this so forgive me if it's not.

I was trying to install a new theme for my site. I used Core FTP to make sure the appropriate folder was in the /public_html/wp-content/themes/ directory. Even after closing and restarting Core FTP it is still there so that is fine.

I then went into my WP Admin page and clicked on Design then Themes and the only two options are "WordPress Default" and "WordPress Classic" with no sign of the theme I had already uploaded.

I am really struggling and would be very appreciative if anyone could help me rectify this.

    Thanks in advance,

    Pat.

    Hey,

So you unzipped the theme, FTP'd all the loose files to /public_html/wp-content/themes/myNewThemeFolder

Using CoreFTP, set the permissions on the folder to 0755 or 755 and all the files to 0644 or 644.

When you go back to the admin, click on the "Themes" link again to refresh the view...

    That should do it!

If that doesn't do it, there is a really good chance that you're simply not putting those files where you think they are...

Please excuse any ignorance in the next post, I'm not really sure what I'm talking about haha.

I dragged the folder from where it was on my computer into /public_html/wp-content/themes/myNewThemeFolder in Core FTP and it unzipped below.

What do you mean by setting permission on the folder and how do I do this?

    Sorry for the noob questions.

    Pat.

Thanks for the link. I did everything it said on those 2 videos and I still have the same problem.

There are no spaces or misused characters in the folder name so I'm not sure whats going on. Any other ideas?

    Hey Jackson,

    Still here?

I dragged the folder from where it was on my computer into /public_html/wp-content/themes/myNewThemeFolder in Core FTP and it unzipped below.

In the window that shows the files on your server, if you right click on that theme's folder and select 'Properties" from the bottom of the list of options you will see a box called "Value" where you can set the permissions.

If you go into that folder (try double clicking on it) you should see all the theme's files. Single click on the first one to highlight it and then using the scroll bar, scroll down to the bottom. Now, with the first file still highlighted, hold down the shift key and then click on the last file.

All the files in between first and second click should be highlighted/selected. Now, right click on any file in the selected area. Same procedure for the multiple files. Set them all to 0644.

    Cool?
