Just wondering why the new default theme doesn’t make use of thumbnail images, or ‘featured image’ as its now called.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for ‘non power’ users?

I’m pretty sure it does actually.
Twentyten uses the featured image to replace the banner/header image.
Check out the header.php to see how to take advantage of post thumbnails.

Interesting… It’s not working on my site. I just tested with the unmodified theme (I’m using a child theme). I even turned off all my plugins.

check header.php looks like they updated things recently, possibly following on from my complaint. It now only uses that thumbnail if it is of sufficient width.

    Well, that would make sense.

Hmm. Wonder if I can tweak that to stretch the image if it’s not wide enough.
