• Hello,

New to Multi-Site here. My primary domain is fine (www.mywebsite.com) but newly added sub-domains are not being found in the browser (i.e. Chrome returning “Oops! Could not find the subdomain.mywebsite.com”).

What I’ve done: I use a free host called Heliohost, which uses cPanel Accelerated, and I have enabled Wildcard by simply inserting an asterisk before a subdomain and clicked create. In response to several tutorials I’ve read, I’ve also added blog.dir in the wp-content location, despite my network set-up instructions not including it the step.

Also when I tried to visit the subdomain yesterday, i got a page from my host stating that my site was in queue for creation. But now it’s returning the not found screen.

Any suggestions to get the subdomains running? Many, many thanks in advance!

When the error is your browser not being able to find the domain, the problem is not WordPress.

You did 50% of the work, with cpanel, but the other half is DNS. You have to tell your nameserver to use wildcards too. Most normally do it for you.
