New Style of Comment Spam (3 posts)

I think most of us are familiar with spammers who fill their message body with links. Spam Karma 2 really takes care of that. But this morning I noticed three comments in my blog that have no links in the message body, but DO have the URL filled out, which points to a spam blog, and Spam Karma 2 does NOT catch it. What kind of threat do these represent? Are these just as bad as message body spammers?

    Thanks!

I am deleting all such comments, and in most cases adding the URL's to SK's blacklist.

It's been suggested here before that such comments are made to allow you to approve them which means further comments using the same details will be allowed to be posted.

I get quite a bit of this - probably human entered - spam right now and it just makes me more suspicious of those people that do make a genuine comment. This spam stuff can appear very good ...

Yeah I agree, the actual comment body appears to be in line with the blog post I make. It's just the URL that they enter for their site, points right back at the spam site, and clearly like you, makes me a little nervous (and want to manually blacklist them).

Thanks for the response, I'll take your tack and blacklist them.
