New site not showing up properly in Internet Explorer 8 (14 posts)

Hi there, I wonder if anybody can help me...?

I'm fairly new to web design - know the basics of html and css and have created a few very basic sites using these skills.

I've recently been experimenting with WordPress and have been building a site for my friends new business http://www.toastlettings.com

My problem is that the site appears fine in Google Chrome and even IE9 but when viewing in IE8 certain parts of the site are jumbled up, especially the booking calendar page http://www.toastlettings.com/booking

Could anybody give me any ideas why this might be occurring and how I might be able to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS The theme I am using is called 'Responsive'

    Hey There,

First I would like to say thanks fro using Responsive Theme :)

The IE8 http://imgur.com/1C8mi doesn't look any different from Chrome or FF, maybe I'm missing something here.

    Thanks,
    Emil

Hey thanks for the quick reply!

No problem, good job buddy :)

It looks fine my end too on IE9 and Chrome but my friend is saying it's showing up all jumbled up on his IE8.... but then other times it's OK :-S

Could it be that he needs to clear his history, cache etc or reinstall the browser?

    Regards

    Dan

In some cases cache can be an issues, but also browser extensions or add-ons as well. Restarting should help, not really sure if one needs to reinstall the browser.

    Thanks,
    Emil

Is it ok to leave it open until I have solved the problem or should I make a new post if the problem still persists?

don't worry bud, no rush or anything like that :) "I don't mind" above should say keep it open as longest you need.

Seems to be an incompatibility issue with IE8 as I've tried it on a different computer and it's still doing the same thing so I'm not sure what to do about that.

The other things I need to do are change the background colours of the right side bars but not sure where I find and edit the code, is it in the main .css file? Also I need to centre the header logo and the footer menu links.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Dan,

Just revisited this once again, here locally and remotely from Adobe Browser Labs https://browserlab.adobe.com and there are no issues please see http://imgur.com/a/DDrsC

I would also look into plugin styles and ask the plugin author of easyReservations for assistance, this is after all plugin related, not really tied with the Theme styles :)

For the widgets please see: http://themeid.com/forum/topic/763/how-to-change-background-colour-on-widgets/

    Thanks,
    Emil

    Ok thanks for your help.

I just have one more question if you don't mind.

How do I centre the menu and the footer text?

    Regards

    Daniel
