I've just made a mockup of a new theme for portfolios and I wonder if anyone can provide any critiques before I start coding it
link to screenshot
The top part will pull in posts that are of a specific category (e.g. portfolio). This type of navigation can be done as shown here
The statement could be a sticky post or just static html and the bottom blog posts would just show excerpts. I was thinking that instead of blog posts I could have widgets instead.
Any thoughts are welcome

I like the idea. As a designer I'd like to see a little stronger grid, particularly down toward the bottom (space the blog posts/widgets out a little bit so that the edges line up with the header bar, and eliminate the margin around the statement paragraph so that it lines up with the rest of the elements). I'd also like to see a little more whitespace in general in the text to improve readability. Increase the line-height a little bit, for example.
I definitely dig the slider. That'll be pretty sweet.

Thanks for the input, I'll get on modifying it.
I've not done much coding before, so can't say when it'll be finished, but I hope to do it soon!

How do you mean it must show projects? Do you recommend that I remove the blog posts?
