• Hey guys, I’ve just completed (?) my first plugin: an AJAX shoutbox, which enables users to chat without refreshing the page. I’ve got a working example at http://blog.jalenack.com

Now, I’m looking for alpha (beta?) testers to help me debug and give suggestions. I’ve already tested it on my blog and a fresh kubrick install.

    Download the .zip here:
    http://blog.jalenack.com/wordspew.zip

I’ve included a readme.txt with complete installation instructions. When I move this out of beta, I’ll probably be posting an entry on my blog about it, but for now I’d just like to show it to people adventurous enough for beta plugins. I eventually hope to submit this to the WordPress Plugins competition, so I’m eager to hear any suggestions/improvements you have, both code and concept.

    Thanks! -Andrew

Sigh, another day, another update. 0.52 fixes problems with 0.5: one incredibly critical one where www subdomains would render it non-functional…

I think I’ve got a stable version here (0.6). It’s installed without a hitch for most people. And it’s now got an admin panel. Also, doesn’t clash with Dunstan’s Time Since anymore..

I totally LOVE this plugin….and Jalenack is uber supportive!!!

Don’t be cruel for my english πŸ™‚ . I have a problem. The date don’t renewed when new post add to WordSpew

It appears you are using an older version, maybe 0.5? Try upgrading to the latest version 0.61

That was a bug in older versions that is now fixed

    Update:

New version 0.70! Now runs smileys and links, and some discreet fixes too. Have fun!

    It’s at v.1.15 now, very sweet πŸ˜‰

    Glad you like it πŸ™‚

I have latest wordspew 1.16. Where should I paste the snippet on the sidebar? I tried different spots but no shoutbox appears on the blog.

Hey. Anywhere in the sidebar.php file works, as long as it’t not within any conditionals like <?php if (is_home()) { ?> etc.. Try adding the snippet on the very first line of the sidebar and seeing if it shows up. You’ve got the plugin installed and activated right?

so, i am getting a lot of spam on mine. like, every other day, i get about 5-6 posts such as: “dtrwdtxfc@wrestlingmidwest.com” posting “dtrwdtxfc@wrestlingmidwest.com.” and then the same thing, where they post another email address from wrestlingmidwest.com (which is where the site is hosted) doing the same thing. after managing it, deleting the spam, a few days later, they reaapear. i can’t keep doing that. you have anything to block that? and i am running 1.12. Will updating fix the spam issue?

    Hey,

    Have a look at http://blog.jalenack.com/archives/ajax-shoutbox-plugin-wordspew-auredict/#comment-1505 .

Upgrading won’t affect the spam issue, but it is nice in other ways.

I’m getting that weird spam thing happening on my site too. Aside from that, I LOVE the plugin.

    Have you tried bad behavior?

I’m thinking of adding some protection. It’s appearing everywhere
