   I am having difficulty getting a new page template to show in the dropdown under Edit-Page.

   The am familiar with page templates and know they are written correctly. They also appear under twentyten and twentyeleven themes when added to the respective directories.

   The problem theme has page templates that do show in the drop down. I am using the same directory (and tried the sub directories).

   I have searched for hours on the web, WordPress support and codex for a solution and have tried a few that have solved the same symptom including:
   -deactivate reactivate theme and variations of this hack
   -search for use of the word template in the themes css files

   I am now leaning towards the possibility that the theme itself is limiting the page template options. Is there a base WordPress function for doing this?

   Problem was user error... DOH!

   Was using dreamweaver for development and upload. Used filezilla to upload the templates to the other theme directories for testing.

   Dreamweaver root directory was set to the parent of the domain root so files uploaded from dreamweaver were not put in the necessary location.

   I feel silly...
