Hi
Just started with wordpress.org after using .com.
Just added a new page which i don't want the content to change (static page?), but want the "post" on this new page to appear on my home page (as a sticky post).
BUT
I want "normal" posts to be dynamic, as in displaying on home when they are posted
using melitus template which gives short amount of space for the post to appear so have to use "excerpt". So I also need to add excerpt box on admin side of new page.
Posts & Pages are 2 entirely different WordPress objects. When you create a Page, you don't place a Post inside it. You publish a Page - an object in its own right.
Sounds to me like you really want to just publish a Post and make is sticky so that it stays at the top of your front page. If you don't want the content of this Post to change, don't change it. :-)

already tried it that way. doesn't work out the way I wanted. I think I'm trying to make it work more like a website rather than a blog
