I have setup a multisite network at the root directory of my server(that is the .htaccess, wp-config.php files are just under the "public_html/"). I would like to know if now I want to build other wordpress sites, each on different databases(The current network share the same database). Do I need to move my current network into a subdirectory? If so how to do this? Or I should only create a new database and go ahead with the installation?

    Any ideas? Thanks!!

  2. Why would you build a new DB if you already have Multisite?

    Just use Multisite.

(You can install anything you want in subfolders off public_html)

The reason is that I don't want to use the Multisite feature anymore. I want to build separate wordpress sites on the same server. But still I would like to preserve the sites which I built using the multisite function.

To put in a nut shell, I want to have old sites under Multisites, and new separate sites in the same host.

  4. Then yeah, you can do that. Any physical folders will take precendence over the multisite ones :)

I am not very familiar with the wordpress setup.
If I want to build the mentioned structure, is that I will have to put 2 folders under the public_html?
Folder A is for the new sites, and B is for the old multisite. And I will manually move all files which are currently under the public_html into that folder B. All of these actions are taken via FTP.
    Is this correct?

  6. Don't move your current install. You're over thinking :)

Go in to your .public_html/ folder.

Make a NEW folder called /newblogname/

    Install the new site there.

(You don't want to move the Multisite, it's a pain in the tush)
