    Hi,
I am getting crazy about this hole thing.

    This is the story:
    (1) I installed the 2.5.1 version in a host that uses Windows 2003 as the op. system.

    (2) I imported some posts and the links started to show: ?p=X thing as permalinks.

(2.1) when I imported, I had to get the archive from the self hosted blogger, to the blogger, then to wordpress.com, then, finally to self hosted wordpress.org at http://www.betoveiga.com.

    (3) Either, the links were broke, because the index.php file is at a directory called /log/ and the previous posts were at a dir called /blog/

I mean, the old posts that I used to use in a Blogger self hosted blog at http://www.betoveiga.com

    (4) I then decided to use a plugin to change the names and keep the permalinks in order to get the same page rank, etc.
    provided by : http://justinsomnia.org/

    (5) also copied the file index.php from /log to /blog/ and tried to use it but it didn’t worked.

PHP Warning: require(./wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in E:\home\lubaby\Web\betoveiga\blog\index.php on line 4 PHP Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required './wp-blog-header.php' (include_path='.;c:\php5\includes') in E:\home\lubaby\Web\betoveiga\blog\index.php on line 4

    (6) I changed the way WP keeps its permalinks, to /YYYY/MM/DD/postname.html,

    (7) old index.php at the /log/ directory stopped to show the imported posts.

    See it at http://www.betoveiga.com/log/index.php

    (8) when I proceeded step (6), the system told me to modify a hidden .htaccess file. I talked to the host and the guy said that this file is not available at a windows server.

Should I give it up and get back to blogger ???

    Thanks

    1) Well that's your first problem, move to Linux.

    2) This doesn't come close to making sense, try copy/paste.

2.1) Why didn't you just go to wp-admin/admin.php?import=blogger?

    3) Refer to answer #1.

    4) Maybe you're jumping around a bit, but it seems like you're saying you installed a plugin before your blog worked?

    5) Again, you're not being clear. Are you saying you tried copying your Blogger index.php to use as your WordPress index.php?

    6) I'm not sure how this is relevant.

    7) Refer to answer #5.

    8) What is the system? WordPress? The OS?
By the way, you can use .htaccess on Windows.

Should I give it up and get back to blogger ???

    Nah, WordPress is awesome.

I'd try posting again, this time exclude the irrelevant information, and be clear and concise with the relevant information.

    Thanks, hallsofmontezuma
    1) Well that's your first problem, move to Linux.
There is no way at this moment, because I have other sites working under Windows.
    2) This doesn't come close to making sense, try copy/paste.
I have just solved this problem, lets skip it.
2.1) Why didn't you just go to wp-admin/admin.php?import=blogger?
I did not work for self hosted blogs, as you know.
    3) Refer to answer #1.

    4) Maybe you're jumping around a bit, but it seems like you're saying you installed a plugin before your blog worked?
Well, the database is full of posts, correctly imported. But I would like to see those posts published again. I mean, if I edit an old or publish a new post, nothing happens.

    5) Again, you're not being clear. Are you saying you tried copying your Blogger index.php to use as your WordPress index.php?
No. Blogger does not uses .php files. It uses html. I copied the index.php from one directory to another.
    6) I'm not sure how this is relevant.
Probably not, but this is how the .htaccess file problem appeared. When I made this chande, WP told me to copy a piece of code and insert it in this file. I never foud it and it never worked since then.
    7) Refer to answer #5.

    8) What is the system? WordPress? The OS?
    WordPress

By the way, you can use .htaccess on Windows.
How do I put it in a Windows system?

I'd try posting again, this time exclude the irrelevant information, and be clear and concise with the relevant information.
    Done!
