New install redirect back to local pc (8 posts)

Not sure what's happening - standard install, created db, filled-out and uploaded wp-config.php, navigate to url in browser and get redirected to my own pc (localhost is my now my pc instead of the host's machine).

I tried this on three different machines, two pc's and one mac. All redirect back to themselves.

    Ideas?

Right - I know how to install locally. This is a standard install on a GoDaddy VPS. But when I navigate to the url to complete the installation, I just get redirected to my local pc. I don't want that, I want the install on the web server to finish.

    Thanks!

Have you discussed the issue with GoDaddy?

Yeah they say 'localhost' is the correct hostname.

What in the world am I doing wrong - it's funny - I've never seen this before. I navigate to my new domain with a clean upload of 3.6 (wp-config) filled-out correctly, and it redirects to 127.0.0.1 - even if I delete wp-config and let WP do it - same thing. On different machines (home and work) on different service providers.

    Stumped.

So did you change the siteurl and home fields in the db on the GD install? Sounds as though they are still set to your local installation :)

Fire up phpMyAdmin on your GD db account and check that out and adjust as required to your live domain name.

Then, once that is done, install and run this plugin to adjust all the URLs on your site:

However, if you have links that are stored as serialized strings (such as paths to image files that are header images in the default WP themes), then you will have to run another script to adjust those:

Nothing to this web dev stuff, eh? :)
