Hi, I am new to Word Press and to web design in general. I have been using Fusion for design, but liked the idea of WP for being able to update the site from any browser. I am currently administering this site: http://www.eysasoccer.com here is the WP version I am getting ready to launch: http://eysasoccer.com/Test/nfblog (feel free to post comments or suggestions).

I have been plugging along through a lot of trial and error and have little to no code experience, but I am starting to figure some of it out. I am stuck on inserting a table onto a page. I did a search and found some sample code that I can work with to try and make work, but I was wondering if anyone has developed any cut and paste functionality from Excel. I am trying to post standings and game results and could really use some help.

Here is a link to a sample of the data I would like to get into a table: http://eysasoccer.com/Test/nfblog/?page_id=20

Thanks in advance and with your patience with a newby.

    Nick

OK I copied some code from an existing table and started playing with it. Still have some work to do with the formating but it is starting to come along.

I can't figure out how to seperate the tables. Also the "Standings" Title is supposed to be down with the second table.

Feel free to make any other formatting suggestions.

You have some kind of nesting, i.e. 2 nested tables, but in the wrong way.
Where did you copy all that table code form? It's full of non-valid code and very, very, very, very redundant.
It has a paragpraph in every table cell (td) which is totally non-sense; plus font style in every cell.

I'd go with clean table code - eventually a class for different tables, if I have different ones, and I'd define the font, alignment and other thing in the stylesheet.

I copied the code from my "Fusion" based site.

Again, I am new to all of this, so I am not sure what is valid and non-valid. I am used to WYSIWYG, but would like to take the next step with WP. Could you suggest some code to start with, and maybe a book or tutorial that will help me undersand how to write and manipulate this code.

    1. For wysiwyg you may try this plugin:

    2. For learning html I always suggest this site
    http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp (click HTML > Tables )
    - the examples there have inline CSS, but if you figure out how to write a simple, clean code for table, we can always help you to style it through the stylesheet.
