I like it. I might like it a bit more if the banner (gray with white text) had a transparent background and instead of white a light gray there. Less jarring. Right now, it looks like an afterthought.

hmmm it is transparant… i’m guessing you must have an older version of IE… (i know it looked funky when i looked at it in IE6 but IE7 and firefox it looks “correct” Thanks for the plugin reccomendations i already have gigpress set up (though no gigs at the moment) but the discography plug looks awesome! 🙂
it’s a nice looking site – partiuclarly the background image.
I think the problem Joni saw was PNG images not being adapted for IE6 (which you can’t do if they’re css backgrounds, but otherwise you can).
my biggest issue is with the “black hole” effect on the sidebar blocks. They’re solid while the main posts section shows through the textured background.
Yep, it looks fabu this morning in Firehog! I agree about the sidebars too. We’ve got an odd version of IE6 at the office (where I looked at it first). Even sites where I’ve got conditional comments that fix IE6/7 anomalies look out of whack on this particular version of IE6 (6.0.2800.1104). Heaven only knows where our IT department gets its notions.

any suggestions on the sidebars? do you think doing away with the background all together would work better (perhaps with a border)

Maybe echo the appearance of the post dividers somewhere in the sidebar? Either between each section or a border around it as a whole.
