   Hello all. My name is Adam and I am working on developing a new humor based site at http://www.laughsonthenet.com.

   I also have another site that runs Joomla but I think I am liking wordpress much better. I am looking for a few things for the site wordpress. I am completely capable of doing Google searches and soforth but I thought I would ask here and hear from people with personal experience.

   So here is a list of things I need. If you do not have an answer for each one that is fine, please reply anyways.

   -Forum software

   -Picture hosting with the capabilities of casting votes on pictures, show a series of pictures or a single picture and I am not sure what else.

   -Something else where I can embed youtube.com videos and people can vote on them on my site.

   -adsence plugin that will manage adsence ads and place them on the site where I specify.

   -I am pretty sure there was something else but I will be darned if I can think of what it was.

   Oh I know of something, anyone know of a converter out there that will convert a joomla site to a wordpress site incase I decide to change my other site over to wordpress.

   Thank you in advance for any replies and advice you can give to someone that is very new to wordpress.

   For forums, there are a few options. Google 'WordPress Forum plugins' or look at bbPress.

   Ditto adsense. Google 'WordPress Adsense Plugin' :)

   As for embedding videos, that's built into WordPress. You can use PollDaddy (a plugin) to add voting/rating capabilities to the posts with video.

   Thank you for the reply. Is bbPress the same as bbforums. Because I think I used something before called bbforums on my joomla site.

   Also I do understand that I can Google plugins to find ones on the net. But I was really hoping to hear peoples experience with specific plugins.

   No, bbPress is not the same as bbForums.

   And ... honestly, a lot of 'best tools' is best for YOU. I like using external apps for photo sites (i.e not WordPress) and other people like using plugins like NextGenGallery. It's a lot of preference. When you're asking for 'What plugins...' without a great deal of details, it's really hard to recommend.

   You're asking 'I want a car, which one do you recommend?' Try specifics :) What KIND of gallery, forum, adsense, etc plugin do you want. What features do you need.

   Bolding me. That's the problem. You need to know what YOU want before WE can suggest past 'google and see what you like.'
