I have a existing main website that doesn’t really want to be the ‘network’ site ( newblog.mainsite.org), but am interested in creating a blog network on another domain (newblogs.secondarysite.net ) with the exact same user base as the main site.

Is there a way to turn the MS network on for the main site and make the secondary site the ‘network’?

    Ex.
    mainsite.org ( existing user base )
secondarysite.net ( network site with new subdomain or subdirectory sites )

I’m interested in having all new domains / subdomains be part of the secondary site : newblogs.secondarysite.net

    Thanks for your thoughts!

    Mic

  • The network has to be installed on secondarysite.net to get what you want.

To pull in the other site & share users (who would become users off of secondarysite.net,) you’d have to move over mainsite.org into the network, and move over all the users.

If secondarysite.net is an add-on domain in your webhost, you won’t be able to have subdomain blogs. that’s a constriction of your host, not the software.

Looks like I’d have to set up the new secondarysite.net install and important the mainsite.org as one of it’s ‘subsites’.

    Thanks for your help Andrea_r!
