[resolved] Network says I have 4 super admins but I only have 2 (19 posts)

    This is a new network site and I've been doing a lot of playing.

    It says they are 4 but when I click to see who they are it only shows two.

    How can I clear that up?

  2. It's in the database, actually, but user info is cached.

    Editing that is a little tricky via the DB. Has it cleared up yet?

    I just checked. It hasn't cleared up.

  4. Okay, go look in wp_sitemeta in the DB.

    The field is site_admins

    What've you got in there?

    a:4:{i:0;N;i:1;s:7:"dresden";i:2;s:5:"luiji";i:3;s...

  6. That's where they're all listed. Do you see all four in ther? :) You have to look at the whole thing.

    You CAN edit it, it's just a little tricky.

    Well, I can't currently access my phpadmin. I getting php error having to do with class-simplepie.php. I'm trying to search now to find out what that is and how to resolve that.

    Okay, deactivate all plugins for now.

    On to this. I don't see four users in there. When I do the inline edit that value isn't editable so i can't see the rest after ...

  9. PhpMyAdmin is totally separate from WP.

    What is the full value for that in your database?

    Sorry, I don't know how else to view my database. (I'm on bluehost.)

  11. Go into phpMyAdmin.

    go look in wp_sitemeta in the DB.

    The field is site_admins.

    Click on it to edit :)

    You need to look at the entire field (that it ends with ... means there's more data)

    Okay, I finally found the correct editing area. :)

    a:4:{i:0;N;i:1;s:7:"dresden";i:2;s:5:"luiji";i:3;s:4:"zeta";}

    I only see three users. Right? Dresden is no longer a user.

  13. Arright! Now we're on to something.

    A quick test confirms you cannot delete a super-admin while they're super-admin. So did you remove them as a superadmin and then delete?

    ETA:

    You would want to replace what you have with this:

    a:3:{i:0;N;i:1;s:5:"luiji";i:2;s:3:"zeta";}

    But make a backup first!

    I did it, but I lost the network, so I put it back. So, I created a new account with dresden and it automatically made it a superadmin. Then unsuperadmin-ed it and that worked.

    My last question is -
    I have two supers and it says there are three is there on invisible one by default?

  15. There isn't an invisible one.

    You have three IDs

    N (whatever that is)
    luiji
    zeta

    I totally missed that. I don't know what that one is but I'll do what I did with the other one.

    Thanks for taking so much time with me.

    There doesn't seem to be a way to create a user called "N". I keep getting that it has to be lowercase and four letters.

  18. If your ID is dresden, do this:
    a:1:{i:0;s:7:"dresden";}

    If you're zeta do this:
    a:1:{i:0;s:4:"zeta";}

    Then you can go back in and add everyone else as you see fit

    That worked! Thanks.

    I tried a few experiments on my own, like changing the N to needle but then I lost network access for everyone.
