I’m using Collapse-O-Matic on two pages with Visual Composer and Headway Themes. First page, several expands, no problems. Second page, everything was fine until I added an “expandsub” to the mix. At that point Visual Composer broke.
    Here is the test page:

The content on the bottom should be on the right.

If I remove the “expandsub” section Visual Composer works just fine.

Is there either a fix you know of or an alternate method, one not requiring an “expandsub”, you can suggest?

Yes. Sorry, thought it was better known.

So after looking into VC, it looks like you have the ability to create ‘rows’ of different ‘content blocks’. So what type of content element are you adding the nested shortcode to? Also, if you are using the text ‘block’ are you entering your shortcodes in the Visual or Text modes in the editor?

Have you opened a ticket with the WPBakery on this issue?

“So what type of content element are you adding the nested shortcode to? Also, if you are using the text ‘block’ are you entering your shortcodes in the Visual or Text modes in the editor?”

The usual workflow is to build what I’m going to add in either BBEdit or TextWrangler and then copy/paste it into a Visual Composer Text block in the code view mode to eliminate problems creeping into the code—and because it is wrapped in a div. (Wrapped in a div to take care of formatting issues like the space above and below a bulleted list and a last bullet indent quirk.) From the link in the first post you can see that the nested expanding elements works great with the only problem being that there is something in the combo that breaks columns in VC. Other than that glitch Collapse-O-Matic is great. Also, in the interim I sold the client on an alternative that does not require nesting elements.

VC does have an accordion block which has its own problems like nested accordions don’t work and it has a +/- for open/close pegged to the right side. I do have an open ticket to see if that can be moved to the left but that’s their, and a different, question.

I also tried the Ultimate Shortcodes accordion but they don’t seem to play with VC—at all.

As for VC it is being used as it solved the clients problem in a way they can update in the future and it has the flexibility to change as they need and it is responsive.

    Incredible support.

Great company and the answer to the problem, no surprise, was correcting my user error.

So to update my subject title.

Sweet! And thanks for voting for pedro!

    Hi guys,

Sorry to bring some old shi### but is there any way I can get the resolution to this?

I am using visual composer in my x theme and I want to have a small icon clickable to some [expand] [visual composer row] [text stuff] [revslider stuff] / [essential grid stuff]
    [/expand]

obviously this is not the shortcode I am using but a reference to my problem.

The difference here is I am using some revsliders and essential grid (both by themepunch) in my rows.

I have gotten to where the shortcode expands with arrow icon only but the revsliders and essential grids are using a very small container. Not sure where it is pulling the size attributes from but Im hoping to get this to work.

I am using a one page style and I am trying to keep it all clean and minimal as much as possible. Your plugin would be epic if only I can get my stupid head around it haha

Thanks in advance for the hopes of salvation. i promise I will vote for Pedro!

It sounds like you need to read up on the maptastic feature. If that does not resolve it, please get back to us with a link to the page so we can better understand the issue. As a final solution, you might need to trigger a callback to get the plugins to respond to the new expanded dimensions. Advanced callbacks and other pro features are available in Collapse-Pro-Matic along with some killer personalised support.
