Oi, oi. Check out my first go at a blog of my own design:

Thanks. Glad to hear your wife has a sense of humor!
I don't know if this is clever or not, but the checkbox for "join mailing list" seems to be a "required" field thereby not being able to submit the vcard unless you subscribe to the mailing list.

The "mailing list" is checked by default, but you can toggle it off and the card will still send. Thanks for checking it out.

Wow thats really cool. I like the deco/retro thing goin on. It reminds me of the phpbb skin Ash Retro (Which I like alot). Good job.

I also like the lookof your site. Definitley a bookmarker
Also, can I suggest cards you can send to your ex's; either ex friends, ex lovers, ect. So hard to find a good hate card now-a-days ;)

DJ and BVS, thanks for the compliments on the site, I'm glad you liked 'em. As for more cards Buff, those are definitely in the works. But maybe I ought to work a little faster. I'd be a fool not to heed the advice of the Slayer.

HEy I absoulutely LOVE YOUR BLOG.. so cool.. i have just got going... and im stunned at your blog... i still have a terrible bland default look.. only today did i figure out how to edit the index.php file to change the TITLE at the top..
I need to come up with a template and such.. with adsense on one side and also a mailing list.
did you use any plugins..?
I gather your not new to wordpress...

Welcome to the fold. I've never had a succinct approach to designing sites. I just sort of chip away at it until I'm satisfied. I'd recommend the same (while it may not help you out immediately). Just do one thing at a time and over the course of a month or so, everything will start to take shape. Good luck and keep at it.
The only plugin I think I'm using is for the recent links section on the sidebar.
