• I don’t know the version of wordpress it’s hosted through aplus.net.
How do I uninstall wordpress and reinstall on main domain name through aplus?First of all They told me there were two different ways to set this up. They said the first was to redirect wordpress to point to the main url, then the second way was to I guess just add wordpress to the main domain name. I told them I didn’t care as long as I could upload my own theme which was the whole point of doing this. I have a theme I want to upload. They set it up the first time and I was able to upload the theme,5 minutes later the site went down. It’s been 3 weeks of trying to get help to get this thing up again. I told them several times I wanted to do it for the sole purpose of adding my own theme, however, the 2nd installation was done wrong in that it was not set up on my main domain and I could not upload my own theme. They no longer will help and I am trying to get help somewhere on this planet. Is there anyone there that can help guide me through the process since I have zero experience of building a blog. I deleted most of what was in the files and uninstalled wordpress and deleted the username in the SSQL thing but not really sure if I deleted everything. There might be a file left in there but wasn’t sure if I deleted it if it would possibly mess up the entire website. I have no content on that particular site so just want to set up a blog form scratch. However, I do have 2 other websites on that hosting that I need to be careful of not getting deleted.

  • Starting here, you can find links to whatever level of detail you wish, in terms of installation details for WordPress:

As for running WordPress in a subdirectory but having its home page on your domain’s root (http://domain.com), that is explained here:

What I need to know is are these 2 pages 2 different ways of setup? And will either way allow me to upload my own theme? This is what The problem has been and getting these answers have been like pulling teeth..

Installed properly, with web hosting that works properly, any WordPress site allows an Administrator to install a WordPress Theme (that works properly on the version of WordPress that was installed; some themes are out of date).

I don’t know what else to say except: try another web host, perhaps one that offers a one click installer for WordPress. That will get you going, without having to fuss about exactly how WordPress is installed. You can always go back and re-do the install to your exact liking later.

In addition, if you have any trouble installing the theme of your choice, first try a theme from the WordPress Repository, just to be sure that theme installation works properly:

I have been at this for 3 weeks already back and forth with aplus and now with wordpress.

I have followed the directions and done this 3 times over since yesterday. I set up a user in the mySQL manager. I downloaded the newest version of wordpress, downloaded the FTP client filezilla. I then edited the wp-config.php file. Then I uploaded all the wordpress files to the root directory (public) I then went to the /wp-admin/install.php and there’s nothing there .It’s a blank white page as well as the actual web address. I have been working on this since early yesterday, all night and morning. I literally slept only 2 hours. I’ve read and read ALL over the place. The only answers I keep getting from wordpress are to go read this… Well I read just about everything there is to read and am at a loss. At a dead end. What am I missing? I don’t know what else to do.

As I said, try another web host. All it takes is one small error in web hosting configuration and things won’t work. Sure, a simple web site of HTML might work, but WordPress and almost any other full function web site “enabler” need PHP (programming language), MySQL (database), Apache (web site delivery) and access permissions all set up correctly.

All of the reliable web hosts offer either free trial periods or at least a money back period.
