Support » Fixing WordPress » Need to turn on the Sidebars discussion

  • I was removing a few sidebars after doing some updating. Four of the sidebars said (basically) removal wasn’t allowed. I didn’t know why, but eventually found out I hadn’t yet cleared the widgets from those four sidebars. (It would have been nice if the Sidebars page had told me I needed to do that first.) But by then I had already clicked on “turn the discussion off” in the dialog box. Now nothing on the Sidebars page can be removed!

When I created a new sidebar just to see what would happen, one came up named “null” and I can’t remove that, either. My Sidebars page is TOTALLY disabled, and I haven’t a clue how to get it working again.

There is NO access to Help on the Sidebars page to say how to reverse this, and a search at WP turned up nothing as well. I didn’t think turning the discussion off was going to be for ALL the sidebars. That page is mystifying, anyway.

I seem to have fallen into a blackhole….maybe now someone will make this page more complete.

    Thank you for help.
