Post Types Order
[resolved] Need to show random posts But plugin is preventing it (4 posts)

    Hi,
    Got a weird one here.
I have many custom post types and I had all of them as hierarchical => 'false' so I can sort them. Well, it turns out that I need on custom post type, Sponsors, to order randomly. So I made it hierarchical = 'true'. I added orderby => 'rand' to the query. For some reason out of the 50 or so sponsor logos I have only the first 4 show up randomly, the rest are set in stone!
I tried deactivating the plugin and it worked as it should. But I can't do that. The other post types were meticulously ordered by several individuals, (who literally throttle me if I messed up their order!)
Any way, I do have Auto Sort clicked and am wondering if that's the problem. But I'm afraid to untick it just in case all sorting goes haywire.

    Here's the site:

The sponsor posts are showing up in the slider at the bottom of the page.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You need to turn off the Autosort or it will automatically order by menu_order, here is a link where you can find a detailed solution http://wordpress.org/support/topic/post-type-order-stops-random-header-image-showing?replies=15
Or you can use the 'force_no_custom_order' as TRUE in case you use the Advanced Post Types ORder

    Thanks

    Hi nsp-code,
menu_order will not work for me. I've got custom archive templates for each post type, eg archive-musician.php, so I'm not using a query. Just a regular loop. I did however purchase the premium version of the plugin and just left you a email on that site.

I have literally hundreds of custom post types ordered using the free plugin. Not seeing how I can get the premium plugin to show that data. I activated it and all orders disappeared.
