    Hi,

I installed a plugin that has totally messed up my site big time, to the extent that after several days of banging my head against a brick wall trying to sort it out I have just about given up, save miracles.

All systems, plugins, you name it were all up to date.
I backed up before I activated the plugin so I should have everything I need to be able to restore it to pre disaster days.

I manually backed up and downloaded the back up file from within the site.

As far as I can tell I need to log on to the site and do the restore from within the site.
I can't get in though, so not sure how to go about it at all now.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks,

    Claire

    Hi Claire,

Our plugin creates a backup of the database and the filesystem, but we have no automated restore feature yet as we would need it to work with large data sets and that can be difficult, so for now it's a manual procedure.

Just upload and overwrite files to restore all files to their original state at the time of backup.
Then you need to use phpMyAdmin (most hosts provide this) to access your WordPress database. Use the sql import upload option to upload the database backup file and it will restore your database back to its original state at the time of backup.

Note that it will overwrite and destroy everything currently on the site, so you should most likely use your host control panel to grab a manual full site backup or download all files prior to uploading the backup, and also export your database prior to importing the backup.

    Regards,

    Jason
