   I'm trying to use a premium theme that requires me to know the number of my categories in order to get them to show up where I want them on the front page. I'm currently running 2.6 ... and nowhere in my admin pages to I see the numbering scheme for my categories.

   How do I find out?

   You can see the number if you click the link to edit the category. You should see something like yoursite/wp-admin/categories.php?action=edit&cat_ID=22

   In this case 22 is the category number.
