Hello,
I don't know very much at all about this sort of thing, but would really like to have a wordpress blog on my site.

Because I read this on the home page "This service is ONLY for individuals wishing to install WordPress for personal blogging purposes. Requests related to commercial sites will not be accepted." I thought they would consider thia a commercial site. I also ould not find way to contact them via email to ask them.

Thank you doodlebee for that post. Unfortunatly when I click on the wp-pro list it comes up as an incorect page. Do you have another link or an email address that I can use to contact someone. I am very interested in getting a price, and getting this done.

LOL! Funny how mine was deleted when talking $, and I left my email address. But free ones are allowed. That's ok. I sent email through their site, will again if need be. Whee!
What's funny is that a former moderator would do that.

What? Email through their site, rather than wait on them to post contact information? Isn't it better to do THAT, then the latter? Or are you talking about the charging thing?
Either way, moderator or not, people do make money regarding WP outside the forums. It's not a bad thing. I'd name names for examples, but really I don't have too... You all know one person on here, "staff" wise that charges for his services outside the forums...
I usually help for free, but really after a while of doing free work all the time, it's abused. Hence for me taking a break for longest time. Since being on here the past couple days, I've already been getting hit up on Yahoo Messenger for help and via email requests for it too. But again, it's not a sin to earn some money when it's regarding WP installations, and such.
Especially if it's requested by someone, for paying, or for free. It's the "time" spent of the person doing the actual work "installing/upgrading" and what-not. It's their internet, their time, their bills that need paid, and their choice.
It's not to be mean, or disrespectful. The person said they were willing to pay a price, I left my email address and said we could talk prices via email off the forums. That's not a bad thing. It wasn't intended to start a bidding war either.
I left my contact address, made a comment, and it was deleted. Either way, this whole discussion shouldn't be on here. I'm sorry, I should have sent email to the list, or privately.

Glad it was a fun read. But how else would one take it? What was said could mean anything! Or did you mean THAT as in, I would have deleted a reply like the one I left? No, I probably wouldn't have. If they left an email address for contact, it wouldn't have bothered me.

I cant see anything wrong with talking $ and leaving an email address, I had no idea you had even posted something like that. I am really sorry that they did that.
I have been helping out with wordpress for I think about 2years give or take a few months in another group and thought I would give a hand out here. I just want to share what I know with others. Theres no edit link for me to remove the link in my last post or I would remove it.

Out of context. As you noticed when you clicked the link I provided (you DID do that, right?) we want to avoid bidding wars. As such, we encourage people who want to buy services to leave contact info. Similarily, we encourage people who want to sell their services to contact the buyer via their contact info. Not here. We're not a marketplace.
You'll note, of course, we don't delete the original "seeking services" thread.
I bet we can all find things more interesting to get excited about and write on our own blogs. Let's stop hijacking this thread.
