I need to delete all of the old files of WordPress and reinstall a fresh version. However, how can I do this without deleting my old posts? Or can I reinstall the wpcontent after installing a fresh WP version?
Reason for reinstallation: Template issues, unable to edit plugin, and unable to locate .htaccess file after a CPU issue with my web host. I've tried uploading the latest version, but that has not helped issues at all. Thanks!
Leave the wp-content folder as is but delete all other files. Your posts are stored in your database so won't be affected (but it is worth backing your database up just in case) http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

Should this help replace the location of my .htaccess file?

The reinstall did not help issues at all. Any other suggestions?
One issue: I switched templates, but the new template can only be seen on the home page, unable to edit plugins, my login info keeps resetting.
I think there is something seriously wrong with the installation I am using.
