   I need to creat a really simple calculator to take a user-inputted number, perform 4 simple operations on it and print 4 numbers out on a website. Programming experience is near nil, so can anyone point me in the right direction for a good point to start?

   That's really easy to do. You probably can get a custom developed plug-in for cheap. Check http://www.joeswebtools.com.
