   Here's the deal:

   I wanted to have some server space in order to do a blog-type site at work, but didn't get it. So I built the site on my own hosted server, and it's been a success for the users.

   I want to make a presentations to the PTB and the IT Department. I have the good stuff about WordPress pretty locked down; I've been using it for several years on my own sites. However, I've always had shared hosting.

   I will no doubt be asked how to go about having it on servers in-house, and frankly, I have no clue. I really want to be able to present this in a way that will make them as excited about WP as I am, but I do need the technical information. I don't even know where to begin to look. Like I said, it's nothing I've ever had to worry about.

   Can someone give me guidance? Thanks.

   Start here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Hosting_WordPress

   Generally WordPress can run on most servers, but the part that'll get you is how big is the site, how many people are hitting it, etc etc.
