   Hi,

   I'd like to do an upgrade of WordPress, but I'm worried about how to do it, since I think I did the original install incorrectly.

   Here's my situation: I've currently got WordPress 2.6.3 installed at my site, DSCOMIC.COM. However, last December, when I installed this, instead of appearing on the root site, dscomic.com, the blog appears at http://www.dscomic.com/wordpress-2.6.3/wordpress/
   So I get around this by doing a 301 redirect from dscomic.com to http://www.dscomic.com/wordpress-2.6.3/wordpress/. It's a mess.

   Anyhow, what I'd like to do is:
   1) upgrade to the newest WordPress,
   2) AND somehow fix this so that the blog appears at the root directory (dscomic.com ) this time,
   3) AND still be able to link to those old posts in the http://www.dscomic.com/wordpress-2.6.3/wordpress/ directory.

   Whats the best approach to doing the three things above?

   upgrade to the newest WordPress,

   just do it - we will move it later

   2 options here

   or
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

   samboll, those links worked great, thanks again. Other than a couple dead images which I'm fixing now, dscomic.com is working great on WP 2.8.4.

   Thanks again for the help. I really appreciate it.

   Note to anyone else doing this type of upgrade: follow the document instructions exactly, or there can be trouble (and BACKUP your original work! I learned the advantage of this firsthand!)
