• Hi!

Can anyone please help me with image thumbnail problem? The image thumbnail can’t show the full image.

I resized some pictures that were taken vertically to 520 x 390 pixels. After I uploaded them to the website, the thumbnails shown on the webpage couldn’t show the full image. (However, if I clicked on the thumnail, the size of the picture popped out could show the full image of the picture.)

I’m wondering how to edit them without changing the thumbnail size of other pictures and without retaking those pictures horizontally.

    Thank you!

  • Might wanna try regenerating the thumbnails using this plugin

I’m not sure if I understand this correctly.
Should I first change the thumbnail size via Media Setting?
Will it change other images’ thumbnails since it doesn’t specify which image’s thumbnail size?

I don’t know if this will fix your problem 100%, but this plugin will create the thumbs that do not exist. It won’t delete or destroy anything, but it’s recommended to backup your site first before executing the command.

If you don’t want to change all of the images, you can go into your Media Library, choose the image you want to change, click on Edit Image. On the right hand side, under “thumbnail settings” select “thumbnail.” Then click and drag your mouse over the image so that you get a box. Move the edges of the box to show the whole image. Click the “crop” button above the image. Then Save and Update Media. Hopefully this will help.

I just used both methods to change the thumbnail size. Both worked, but how can I move it from Media Library to the gallery? (I would like to post them on the website.)

    Thanks a lot!

I’m not sure what you mean by move it from the media library to the gallery. If you want it to show up in a gallery on a certain page, you need to make sure it’s attached to that page. In the media library, there is a column called “attached to” if your image is not already attached to a page, click “attach” and choose the page. Then go to that page and insert a gallery and it will show up there. If it is attached to the wrong page, you will need to re-upload it and attach it to the correct page (or upload the image from that page’s editor).

Ok… I have another problem now.

My homepage shows all the pictures on the website randomly, and the thumbnails on the homepage are shown horizontally (width > height)

Page #2 shows pictures vertically (height > width).

Thumbnail for the same pictures are shown differently (horizontally vs. vertically) on those two pages. The problem is that the image in the thumbnail shows on homepage has changed its shape. –> Well, it can be describe as a tall wine glass has been changed to a short fat wine glass.

How can I correct the thumbnail image for few specific pictures on a webpage (homepage) without changing thumbnail size on Page#2?
