• I apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered…

I have a newer .wordpress.com blog that has done decently well since it’s facebook debut so my husband decided to buy a .net domain for it. He purchased the domain from HostMonster (if that matters) and I installed the WordPress software through HostMonster for this domain. I set the theme to Twenty ten (same as the free one) and noticed that some of the widgets aren’t there. For example the subscribe widget. To get around this issue, can I just import my free wordpress site settings, posts, pages and such to my paid domain? I’m sure this can be done, but I’m not sure how?

    Thank you!

  • Only your content will be transferred (posts/pages/pictures) .
Settings and plugins is a manual process .
You have to create the navigation menu-bar manually and install all plugins from WordPress.org

Transferring posts, pages, pictures will definitely be helpful. I have played around with the settings and installed several plugins but I guess i was just after a shortcut. Looks like a full overhaul is in place…

While I’m at it I have another question: I would like for my new site to have a forum section. I found Mingle Forum plugin and installed it and the options drop down menu is now in my dashboard but I have yet to figure out how to make it appear in the website. I’ve tried creating a page and routing it there but that didn’t work. What am I missing?

The best place to ask questions for this plugin is it’s official forum .
If you have WordPress specific questions , feel free to ask .
