• I just did a bunch of upgrades to plugins, one of which AdRotate, now the widget is not displaying, data in the widget has disappeared.

I have a backup of the database and the WP files. Do I restore both the files and the database? I think so because I need to back out to the older version of the plugin and restore the data that was in the sidebar widget for AdRotate.

Can someone verify that this is what I need to do and the steps to take to restore? Do I need to just import the data from the backup database or drop and then add?

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Why would you want to restore the old plugin because the widget settings are lost..

If you had followed the blog posts preceding the upgrade you’d know there would be a new widget and you’d need to simply reconfigure the new one.

    Downgrading is NOT the solution!

    As a followup:

This issue is specific to AdRotate which released a series of upgrades over the past week. The upgrade has disabled the existing AdRotate widget boxes which have to be rebuilt in the new release of AdRotate. So if you we not aware of the upgrade (like me) it appeared as though data was lost in the upgrade when in fact all the data related to AdRotate was still there, just the data put into the sidebar widgets was gone.
