i'm using the Mandigo theme: http://www.onehertz.com/portfolio/wordpress/mandigo/
and i really want to put the official Twitter plugin into my Sidebar1: http://twitter.com/widgets/profile_flash_widget
i would appreciate any help. i'm rubbish with coding. thanks!

You just need to add the code generated for the twitter widget to a text widget in your theme.
Go to: Appearance and click Widgets
Select which sidebar, in the little drop down menu, you want to add the widget to, and click on Show.
Look down the list of available widgets for Text, and click Add, then click Edit on the newly added widget.
In the top box, add some sort of title -- Twitter Updates for instance.
Select and copy the code in the box on the twitter page, and paste that into the bottom box. You are going to need to adjust the width setting in that code to suit your sidebar. Look through the code until you see width="290"; change that to number to 170 or something.
Click Done at the bottom of the widget box.
Click Save Changes and that should be all done. Check to see that your new widget is appearing on the site.

how do i add a text widget to my sidebar? if i can get that done, then i can handle the rest. i did a search for "text widget" plugin, but didnt find anything. i really suck at this kind of stuff.

That's what the instructions above are telling you, everything following what you quoted. I can't think how to simplify it any more, sorry.

aha! see i told you i'm stupid when it comes to this stuff! haha, i got it working now, thanks paul! much appreciated. i dont know what i was thinking.
Good to see you got it done. And a good idea to put it in the double width sidebar at the top; much better than making it narrow enough to fit one of the others. :)
