Looking to setup local server to run WordPress. Installed WAMP, then installed WordPress. Then copied all wordpress files into the www folder within WAMP. When I type in http://localhost I get "Can't display page". Please help.

You need to have wordpress contents in folder in www
    and then access as http://localhost/foldername.

I placed the contents in the www folder as I mentioned above but what would be the folder name I would put after localhost? Would that be wwww? If so, that is not working either.

if you have extracted or unziped the wordpress file you should have wordpress folder copy that folder in www in wamp

now you can rename that folder if you wish

now go to http://localhost/folder(same one you just copied.)

maybe that's where my error was. I unzipped the folder, extracted the files and then copied them into the www folder. I didn't place them into any kind of folder before I placed them in the www folder. Solutions?

    Yes...

Remove the wordpress files from /www, and place them in their own directory inside of /www.

The directory will then show under the "projects" category on the WAMP home page, and can be accessed from there by clicking on the folder, or it can also be accessed exactly as govpatel mentioned above.
