I have tried to tailor the Gila them to meet some of my needs. I would appreciate your comments. I'd also like comments on my web site, too. I've been fooling around with background images and colors and counters.
    Thanks, jim

  2. The blue and green on the blog are far too bright on the eyes. Grey them down a little maybe?
Also on the main page the pink text on that background make it pretty much unreadable.

It's very harsh on the eyes and quite confusing - it would probably pass for art, but it would hurt the eyes for most visitors. The background is far too busy and the colours in the foreground just dont' blend well with that particular background.

Addtionally the page seems best viewed on a widescreen monitor. I would plan what it is you're trying to do on paper first. Sketch out some ideas, take some inspiration from the web, but think about how you want something to look. Then part by part start building the blocks from there.

    Wow! Really hard to read.

Also, you should look into setting your main content widths to "auto" instead of a set pixel width. I'm at 1024x768 on my laptop and had to scroll another half page over to read everything.

  5. Ow.

I think you should take one of the many templates available and tweak it out, and just get comfortable with the whole system. Keep away from so much noise in the background, that's for sure.

I would suggest not fooling around with background-images. Look at this support blog and see how only one background image is used. Underneath the text, only color is used. Notice any improvements with readability? Seriously, how do you read your "About Me" page?

Try using black text on white background and see what you think.

Thanks to all who have commented. I was trying for a certain look but I guess I need to plan again. Also, I've found that the web pages display fine in IE but not in Netscape or Firefox. I've found that the blog displays differently in each of these 3 browsers.

I'm not used to creating something that needs to be interpreted differently in each browser. Back to the drawing board.

    Thanks again.
