need advise on photo/gallery plugin

I’m switching my blog from windows live space to wordpress and I failed to find a plug-in that is simple in nature and show images correctly. For example, nextgen gallery was OK until the sidebar widget was showing streched thumbnails. WPG2 requires a whole new installation and extensive setting up.

I am out of options now…
