Need advise on a new setup for plugins (is this possible?)

Ive been using drupal for some time now on my DJ site. I have a new design im finishing up, and am wondering if drupal is right for me. I think its far more than I need and have noticed word press would do the job as its far less complicated.

my site http://239playasclub.com, i currently upload my mixes to my site and then create a new audio node. From there people can download or stream my mixes. I would like to have multiple sections (genres/categories).

I guess my question is this. I looked at a few modules but didnt seem to offer the same functionality as my current setup, so what modules/hacks could I implement to do that. Im also wanting to add an event calendar for when im DJ’ing at a bar or club so people know when tbey can come see me. Since im gonna have to redo the design i get to fit into whatever i decide, im trying to get everything figured out first.

Ive setup a test wp site to play with and i like the simplicity.
